My Camino Journal

My Camino Journey

Welcome to My Camino Journal

For many years I dreamed of walking a Camino. This journal is the story of that dream becoming reality.

Here I will share my preparation, the lessons I learn, the beauty I encounter, and the quiet transformations that happen one step at a time.

This is more than training for a walk through the Karoo.
It is a journey of conscious living.

Answering The Call

There are some journeys we choose, and there are others that quietly choose us.

For many years, the Camino has whispered to my soul. It has never felt like something to cross off a bucket list or an adventure to simply experience. Instead, it has felt like a gentle yet persistent invitation….one that has patiently waited until the time was right for me to answer.

While many pilgrims dream of walking the ancient routes of Europe, my heart has always been drawn to one of the Caminos here in South Africa. I believe there is something profoundly sacred about walking the land beneath my own feet, through landscapes that awaken wonder, among diverse communities, across ancient ecosystems, and in the company of the remarkable flora and fauna that make this country so beautiful.

A Camino is often described as a pilgrimage, but I believe it is also a conversation between the soul and the path.

Although we may walk beside others, each pilgrim walks an inner journey that belongs to no one else. Every step carries its own intention. Every silence holds its own wisdom. Every heart arrives with different questions, different hopes, and different reasons for setting out. No two Caminos are ever the same, because no two souls are walking the same path.

My life and work have become a continual journey of exploring what it truly means to live consciously, authentically, and in harmony with both ourselves, and the world around us. This journey has given birth to my 12 Principles of Conscious Living….not simply as concepts to understand, but as values to embody each day through our thoughts, choices, actions, and relationships.

The Camino feels like a natural expression of these principles. It is an opportunity to live them more deeply, to walk with commitment, focus, awareness, integrity, honour, presence, and trust. With every step, the path becomes both teacher and companion, inviting me to embody these qualities not in theory, but through lived experience.

The Camino feels like a natural extension of that journey.

It is an opportunity to bring body, mind, and spirit into harmony through the simple rhythm of placing one foot in front of the other. To listen more deeply than the noise of everyday life allows. To notice what has been overlooked. To soften. To trust. To surrender. To remember.

No one can truly predict what a Camino will reveal. We may begin with an intention, but the pilgrimage itself begins long before the first step is taken. It begins the moment we say “yes” to the quiet longing within us. It begins in the preparations we make, in the fears we gently face, and in the willingness to step into the unknown with an open heart.

To me, walking the Camino is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves. It asks for nothing more, and nothing less than our presence. It reminds us that life unfolds one step at a time, and that transformation rarely happens all at once. Instead, it reveals itself gradually, through countless small moments of awareness, challenge, beauty, connection, and grace.

I do not know exactly what this Camino will teach me.
I do not know who I will meet, what I will discover, or how I will be changed.

But perhaps that is the true gift of pilgrimage….not arriving with all the answers, but becoming willing to walk with the questions.

This journey is not one I can fully explain through logic or reason. It is something I feel deep within my soul.
And now, it is time to honour that quiet whisper.
To trust the path.
To take the first step.

I warmly invite you to walk beside me through these journal pages. Together, we will explore not only the landscapes of South Africa, but the landscapes within, the places where healing, wisdom, courage, and transformation quietly unfold, one conscious step at a time.
